Tucked behind Flexible IT on Motor Parkway, Flexible Arena has quietly become one of the most unique and meaningful places in Hauppauge. There’s a bit of a “Field of Dreams” feeling to it—hidden just out of sight, unknown to many, but magical once you step inside. Some people have been skating here for years, while others are only just discovering us. Either way, we’re always ready to welcome new teams, new faces, and anyone looking for a place to play.
What started in 2020 as an outdoor rink built to keep people playing through the pandemic has grown into a community hub that has brought joy, energy, and opportunity to thousands of local families.
This past season marked a major milestone—our first full season since adding the roof in 2024—and it was an incredible success. With the roof in place, the rink became a dependable space for the community, no longer limited by weather or unpredictable conditions.
Over the course of the season, we welcomed more than 150 coaches and teams, saw over 5,000 unique visitors, and the arena collectively gave over 1,000 hours of time back to the community through volunteer work—everything from driving the Zamboni to maintaining the ice.
The end of hockey season doesn’t mean the end of Flexible Arena. As soon as the ice melts, the rink transforms into a year-round community space. Summer brings new energy with plans for roller hockey, basketball, pickle ball, and community events that keep the facility buzzing even in the off-season.
These activities help us continue what we set out to do from day one—create a place for fun, exercise, and connection no matter the time of year.
What makes Flexible Arena truly special is something you won’t find anywhere else: every single hour of rink time is free. No hidden costs. No fees. Just a space built for the love of the game and the good of the community.
We are proud to say Flexible Arena is the only non-profit ice rink on the planet—and it exists for one simple reason: to give back to the community that raised us. Every person who helps run the arena is also a full-time employee at Flexible IT, volunteering their time to keep the rink operating smoothly. When the Zamboni runs, the ice is cleaned, or the doors open for another team, it’s our own staff giving back directly to Hauppauge and the surrounding area.
And yet, for some, that almost seems too good to be true. We occasionally hear it—people assuming there must be a catch, a loophole, or even something dishonest at play. But there isn’t. There’s no hidden agenda—just two guys who wanted to create something good for their community, in a world where that idea almost feels foreign.
We don’t charge for ice time. We don’t allow private training at the rink. And that’s because the arena was built to be a community-first space, not a business. That’s what makes it so unique—and why it has become such a special part of Hauppauge.
As we look to the future, our mission remains the same. We want to keep growing, keep supporting our community, and keep proving that a little ice can make a big difference.
We’re also exploring new ways to expand our reach, including the potential launch of free ice and roller men’s leagues—yet another way to make sure that everyone, no matter their age or skill level, has a chance to play.
And the next season isn’t far off. We’ll begin getting ready by mid-October, and before long, the sound of skates cutting into fresh ice will be back. From new programming to even more community-driven events, Flexible Arena is just getting started.
If you haven’t experienced Flexible Arena yet, now is the perfect time. Whether you skate, cheer, or just stop by to see what makes it so unique, one thing is certain: there’s nothing else like it—anywhere.
The roller rink is open and ice season is right around the corner—we can’t wait to welcome even more teams.
Come experience what makes Flexible Arena unlike any other rink in the world.
